City-based Sarvamangala Dhyana Peedam would organise special pujas and prayers in Mettupalayam “to reduce the impact of the earthquake that has been predicted sometime in July-August.” About 1,000 people are expected to participate in the puja scheduled on July 22.
Earlier last year the founder-head of Sarvamangala Dhyana Peedam, Swami Sarvamangala had predicted heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Special pujas were organised to reduce the impact of the rainfall.
“We read texts and take a closer look at the various clues that point out that natural disasters would take place at a particular time. Depending on the calamity, the Peedam would invite people to participate in the prayers. Mass prayers would go a long way in reducing the impact of the calamity,” he said.
The Sarvamangala Dhyana Peedam was founded in the year 2000. The foundation offers training in 24 types of yoga and meditation, free of cost. Headquartered at Mettupalayam, it has branches in Coimbatore, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur.
