Coming down heavily on Coimbatore Corporation, Mayor P. Rajkumar and AIADMK, DMK Treasurer M.K Stalin said that the city Corporation was very corrupt.
Campaigning for Coimbatore South Constituency candidate of the DMK-Congress combine, Mayura S. Jayakumar, at Ukkadam, on Friday, Stalin also added that Corporation officials had failed to fulfill the promises given earlier.
“The Mayor announced development plans, including bus stands, water recycling units, good roads and multi level car parking, all worth Rs. 2,374 crore for Coimbatore. But even initial works have not started,” he alleged.
He further claimed that even the Mono Rail plan promised by the State Government had not come up. “Only corruption, commission and contracts exist in the Corporation,” he lamented.
He promised that DMK would construct flyovers in Gandhipuram, Ramanathapuram, Ukkadam and Town hall once it came to power, adding that a food park, industrial park and Metro Rail would also come up in Coimbatore.
Criticising that the AIADMK chief had not visited Coimbatore and met people, Stalin claimed that he had not failed to visit Coimbatore even when his party was not in power.
Stalin also campaigned in constituents including Singanallur, Sulur, Pollachi, Kinathukadavu, Thondamuthur, Kavundampalayam, and Coimbatore north constituency.
