September 25, 2023
Cause: Every country around the world celebrates world heart day on September 29th to create awareness on prevention and early detection of heart disease and its risk factors. While heart disease is mostly equated to men, women are increasingly affected and there is a silent pandemic heading up. Hormonal, obstetric and inflammatory conditions increase the risk of heart disease among them, apart from the traditional risk factors. Intense efforts are needed to create awareness among women on this silent pandemic.
September is also considered as PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) month. PCOS is a common hormone disorder in women and one of the important cardiovascular risk factors in women
Passion: The department of Preventive Cardiology, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) together with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, PSG Hospitals focuses its World Heart Day activities to promote cardiovascular health among women.
