Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, who is in-charge of the Tamil Nadu state elections, said today that the people of Tamil Nadu were “waiting for a change and a corruption-free government,” and that the BJP was getting good support for the coming assembly elections on May 16.

While talking to the media at the Coimbatore city airport, Javadekar said, “People of Tamil Nadu want a change and corruption-free government. Both the Dravidian parties failed to provide good governance to the people in the last 50 years.”

The minister was in Coimbatore to address some election meetings in the city. He will visit Erode tomorrow and Chennai on Sunday.

“People are reposing their faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government,” he said, adding that Modi will return to Tamil Nadu later for campaigning.

About the ongoing fishermen issue, Javadekar said that Modi himself had visited Jafna in Sri Lanka and taken initiative to solve the issue.

On UDAY, he said that only Tamil Nadu had rejected the power scheme, by which 20 States, including non-BJP ruled ones, have benefitted.
