The debt burden on Tamil Nadu will increase to Rs.7 lakh crores if the AIADMK implements the freebies announced by it, PMK founder-leader Dr. S. Ramadoss said.

Talking to the reporters in Ooty, he said that Tamil Nadu is already in debts of Rs.4.48 lakh crores, and once the manifesto is implemented, it would increase to more than Rs.7 lakh crores, not including the debts of the electricity department. The party is not clear on how it will generate income to meet these additional expenses, he said.

Stating that the government will have to cough up Rs.73.250 crores if it plans to give subsidies to buy Scooty to women, numbering about 2.93 crore in the state, he said that the cell phone and set top box will add another Rs.4,000 crore to the debts.

Referring to the manifestos of the DMK and the AIADMK, Ramadoss said that the former had copied 42 points, and the latter, 29, from the PMK manifesto.

On issues pertaining to Ooty, he said that, if elected, the PMK will provide a minimum support price of Rs.26.03 per kg for green tea leaves, and increase the solatium for those
killed in man-animal conflicts to Rs.10 lakhs from the current Rs.3 lakhs.

Dismissing the not-so-bright forecasts made by the opinion polls, Ramadoss said that the PMK will definitely win 200 seats and form the government.
