Thanjavur Collector inspects counting centre

District Collector A Annadurai today inspected the Kundavai Nachiar Government Arts College for Women in Thanjavur, where counting of votes for the Thanjavur Assembly constituency would be taken up on November 22. He reviewed the security and safety aspects and basic amenities at the centre.

The Collector inspected the strong room, where the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be kept soon after the polling, and another room where counting would be done. He also inspected the media room where facilities such as a landline telephone with STD connection, photocopier and colour television would be set up for media persons.

Superintendent of Police J. Mahesh, Revenue Divisional Officer (in-charge) Innasimuthu, college principal Nirmala and tahsildar Gurumurthy were present.

“We checked the security and safety aspects, and basic amenities such as electricity, electric fan, toilet and drinking water facilities,” Annadurai said.

Later, the Collector also visited the Electoral Facilitation Centre set up at the office of Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) where political parties should get permission under single window clearance system for organizing election rally and public meetings.
