A good wrapper makes even the most average of gifts look special. Professional gift-wrappers in the city can lend a helping hand when you wish to make your gift stand out in the crowd. For a majority of them, it is a passion that has become a profession. These gift-wrappers are talented and creative. And, they offer themes to choose from.

Simran Wahan for hand-made gift wrapping
Simran Wahan is a very busy gift-wrapper who owns and runs a store in the city that sells hand-made products. “I like to wrap the gifts myself. This way I can give them my personal touch. I do not take more orders than I can handle myself. In the past I have turned down requests from people for this reason. Also, I do not like to compromise on the quality that I deliver,” Simran says.

Simran has her set of loyal customers who always come to her to get their gifts wrapped. She leaves no stone unturned to ensure that she puts her best foot forward while wrapping the gifts.

Vinita Saraogi for wrapping coconuts
Another professional in the city who is the go-to person for wrapping coconuts is Vinita Saraogi. Both North Indians and South Indians use coconuts for religious and special occasions.

Vinita, who owns and runs a boutique that sells gift-wrapping products and accessories, wraps coconuts using accessories that she sources from all over the country. She first coats the coconuts with turmeric powder. She then wraps them using netted cloth and finally they are fixed on trays that are decorated with the likes of coloured stones and buttons. “Coconuts are used in north Indian and south Indian weddings and also in house warming ceremonies. Whatever the occasion is, we have the coconuts wrapped from Vinita,” Lavita Krishnan, homemaker from RS Puram, says.

Sapna Koshy for gift hampers
For those who do not have the time to go shopping for gifts, Sapna Koshy offers some respite. Depending on the occasion and the budget, Sapna can purchase the gift and also wrap it for you. She specialises in creating gift hampers. She sources the merchandise for her gift hampers locally, nationally, and internationally.

Sapna also offers theme-based gift hampers. For an example, a coffee gift hamper will contain coffee mugs and a jar, coffee powder, an apron, coasters and a serving tray. Sapna creates the gift hampers depending on her client’s budget and the occasion.

Bakyam for her themed decorations
During north and south Indian weddings, gifts are exchanged between the bride’s and groom’s family. Bakyam M wraps such gifts based on themes. She also displays the gifts for those who visit the home of the bride or the groom. Recently, Bakyam recreated the scene of a north Indian wedding for one of her clients. There was a replica of the groom on a horse that was made from plaster of Paris. She used various dolls dressed in heavy clothes. They were all part of the groom’s family. In the midst of it all, she cleverly placated decorated tray that contained the gifts like clothes, and accessories.
