Senior leaders of the BJP vehemently refuted claims made by the MDMK general secretary Vaiko that the party had ‘bargained’ with Vijayakanth in order to convince him to join the NDA alliance for the assembly election in Tamil Nadu.
L. Ganesan, senior leader of the BJP said, “What is the necessity for the BJP to offer money or bargain with Vijayakanth? If it was vice-versa, the remarks would have made more sense. Vaiko’s claim is totally wrong.”
Within 24 hours of the DMDK announcing its decision to join the People’s Welfare Front (PWF), the BJP announced the list of 54 candidates, making the party the first to do so.
L. Ganesan said the was not aware of the reason why the PWG renamed themselves as Captain Vijayakanth Front, but added that it would adversely affect the prospects of the front in the elections.
