After Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been diagnosed as a sex addict, doctors said the disease he is suffering from is known as satyriasis – an excessive and uncontrollable desire for sex. A team of five doctors, including a psychiatrist, from the PGIMS examined Ram Rahim Wednesday.

The reports said Ram Rahim complained of uneasiness and restlessness. Soon, a team of doctors visited him at the Sunaira Jail in Rohtak. The doctors, after the examination, said Ram Rahim is a sex addict and the uneasiness is nothing but the withdrawal symptoms. Interestingly, during his rape trial, Ram Rahim had said he was medically unfit to have sex and that he was impotent.

The special CBI court, however, had rejected his claims. Sources said he is believed to have told the doctors that the health issues are a physical manifestation of some withdrawal symptoms he is suffering from. “The baba is, in fact, a sex addict. He has no access to physical pleasures in the jail which is the cause for his restlessness. He can be treated. However, if the treatment is delayed, it can lead to a bigger problem,” said a doctor who who examined him in the jail. It, however, remains unclear if he was addicted to drugs as well.

Some reports suggest that the Dera chief consumed alcohol till 1988. “He may not be drinking liquor now, but he regularly consumed energy drinks and sex tonics that were specially imported from Australia and other countries,” said a doctor. Interestingly, he had requested the jail authorities to allow “physiotherapist” Honeypreet to stay with him in the jail. He had reportedly threatened the jail staff when she was asked to leave the jail complex. Meanwhile, IT head of Dera, Vineet, was arrested on Wednesday.

Police seized hard discs that were stashed in toilets. The storage devices have recordings from around 5,000 CCTV cameras fitted on the Dera premises and of Ram Rahim before he was sent to jail. Sources said this arrest is set to open up significant leads in the case.
