Ahmedabad: Hardik Patel who led the Patidar agitation demanding reservation quota for Patidar community has been sentenced two years in jail by a Gujarat court here on Wednesday. Patel has been sentenced to imprisonment for rioting and arson in Visnagar town in 2015, reports The Times of India.
Along with Patel, his two aides Lalji Patel and AK Patel too have been held guilty. The trio has been slapped with Rs 50,000 fine by the court.
It may be recalled here that a rally demanding reservation quota fr Patidar community – led by Hardik Patel – turned violent at Visnagar Mehsana district on July 23, 2015. The agitators had caused damage to the property and had assaulted on some mediapersons. They had also ransacked an office belonging to BJP MLA, it is reported.
