Samsung Electronics together with Disney announced the availability of your most favorite Disney characters like — Mickey and Minnie Mouse as AR Emojis to the recently launched Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. These newly added AR Emojis are rolling out to all Galaxy S9 and S9+ users globally starting March 16, which also coincided with the global availability of the devices.

Beginning March 16, users with Galaxy S9 and S9+ smartphones can download Disney characters from the AR Emoji mode on their camera, confirms Samsung. Both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ users will be able to access these classic Disney characters directly from their phone to create personalized messages.

AR Emojis are one of the many features that Samsung has been vouching for the newly launched Galaxy S9 and S9+. This is obviously because with the introduction of the AR Emojis Samsung is planning to take on Apple’s Animoji that come with the company’s Anniversary edition iPhone X launched at the Keynote last year.

This is for the first time that Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse are coming to life as an augmented reality Emoji. Samsung says that the company is also looking forward to adding more such Disney characters over the year. “Characters from favorite Disney films including The Incredibles, Zootopia, and Frozen will roll out throughout the year,” notes Samsung.

“By extending our characters and stories to new digital platforms, we are creating daily Disney experiences everywhere our audience goes, and we are able to draw in new generations of fans,” says John Love, Vice President, Apps at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “The Disney AR Emojis offer an innovative approach to content for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ and a fun way to bring magic to messages,” he further adds.

“With more than 6 billion emojis sent daily, our goal with developing AR Emoji was to provide a fun, exciting way to communicate and a new way to bring animated images to life,” says Younghee Lee, CMO and Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics. “We knew there was no one better to partner with than Disney – creator of some of the most beloved characters in history – to make our AR Emojis the happiest faces on earth and give our users access to the most popular characters to share with friends across platforms,” he adds.

Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ was launched with AR Emojis with the aim to let users create fun customized messages and send them to their contacts. “The AR Emojis use deep learning and facial recognition technology to map more than 100 facial features to produce a 3D replica, allowing users to create fun, customized messages to send to friends,” explains Samsung. These AR Emojis offer around 18 pre-set stickers using standard AGIF file format so that the users of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ can share these Emojis easily with anyone and everyone. It is noteworthy, iPhone X Animoji can only be shared with iPhone X users.
