Kashmir: Jawan killed, two militants gunned down in Sopore encounter

An Army jawan was killed and two militants gunned down in an encounter between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter started early Friday morning in Malganipora area of Sopore in Baramulla district.

Internet services in the area have been suspended as a precautionary measure.

Sources say two to three militants were trapped in a house.

Heavy firing was reported from both the sides.

The encounter comes hours after another army jawan was killed in a sniper fire by terrorists in Tral area of South Kashmir. Terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack on a camp of the 42 Rashtriya Rifles.

The terrorists used carried out the attack in Luragam around 9 pm, killing Sepoy Ngamsiamliana, who was on the guard duty. Another hjawan was injured in the attack.

This is the second such incident in four days in which militants have used sniper rifle to carry out attack on security establishments.

An SSB jawan was killed inside a CRPF camp on October 21 by militants who used sniper rifles, possibly armed with night-vision devices, in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
