A 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and abused by her neighbour in Mangolpuri for two months, was in for a shock when she finally lodged an FIR with the police.

The mother of the accused, a tarot card reader, tried to commit suicide in a bid to pressurise the girls family into withdrawing the FIR.

As per the victim’s complaint, the mother of accused Golu, 27, asked her to bring milk from the market about two months ago. The victim followed her instructions and went to her house to hand over the milk packet.

The accuseds mother told her to put the milk packet in the room where her son Golu was already present. He locked the door from the inside and committed the crime while his mother was in the other room.

Later, he threatened her with dire consequences if she mentioned the incident to anyone, said an official of North West district.

Since then, the accused started sexually abusing her even in market places. The victim finally decided to expose Golu and shared her ordeal with her mother on April 6, after which by an FIR was registered in the Mangolpuri police station.

After the FIR was registered, Golus mother threatened the victim family to commit suicide if they did not withdraw FIR against her son.

She also sent Whatsapp messages to residents of the locality before taking sleeping pills. She was admitted to the hospital and later discharged, the official said.
