‘Kerala spent Rs. 83 lakhs for renovating Ministers’ bungalows’

KOCHI: The Kerala Government has spent around Rs. 83 lakhs to renovate the residences of Ministers, at a time when the State is reeling under a financial crunch.

E.P. Jayarajan, who was a Minister for just five months, tops the list, while Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is in the third position.

The Government spent Rs. 13,18,937 for renovating Jayarajan’s Xanadu bungalow, where he was staying when he was the Industries and Sports Minister.

Dewaswom Minister Kadakampallly Surendran is in the second position spending Rs 12,42,672 for the renovation of his official residence Thaikkad House, while the Chief Minister spent Rs 9,56,871, followed by Port Minister Kadakampallly Ramachandran (Rs. 6,31,953).

The figures are mentioned in the reply received for an RTI query submitted by advocate D.B. Bindu.
