KOCHI: The Special Cell of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB), Ernakulam, on Tuesday filed a charge sheet against former Excise Minister K. Babu accusing him of amassing money over his known sources of income.

The charge sheet was filed before the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court. However, it gave clean chit to Babu Ram of Kumbalam and Mohanan of Tripunithura, the co-accused in the case.

Babu, who was a Minister in the previous Congress-led UDA Government, had resigned after court observations against him in alleged corruption case.

The Vigilance, during the probe examined the wealth amassed by Babu between 2007 and 2016 and found that he possessed disproportionate asset of over 45 per cent of his known income.
