Murder accused drowns while trying to rescue hen

Kottayam: A murder accused drowned while trying to rescue a poultry from a well at Uduma near Kasargod today.

Prajit, 28, lost his grip on the rope he was hanging on and fell into the well. Prajit, who was on bail, is the prime accused in the murder of CPM leader M B Balakrishnan, 44 in 2013.

The incident happened near his house. Three persons entered the deep well and were struggling due to lack of oxygen.

Meanwhile, fire and rescue personnel took him out and rushed him to a private hospital in Kasargod from where he was taken to a private hospital for specialised treatment.
