Kochi: Differences in the film body Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) came to the open when actor-turned-politician KB Ganesh Kumar, MLA, blamed president Mamootty for removing Dileep from the primary membership of the association. This, he said, was in violation of the outfit’s constitution.

Ganesh, a former minister, told a daily that a member is first suspended and removed only after conducting an in-house investigation. This was bypassed and Dileep was removed only to make actor Prithviraj happy. Ganesh said Dileep should not return to AMMA and should remain in films without being part of it. Ganesh added that if he were in Dileep’s place he would never return to it.

Ganesh was one of the actors who had stood with Dileep all through. Meanwhile, Film Exhibitors United Organisation elected Dileep as its president. The outfit had expelled him after his arrest in the actor abuse case and elected Antony Perumbavoor as president.
