Activists demand construction of temple, masjid at Ayodhya, over 1,200 arrested

Over 1,2,00 activists various outfits were arrested on Wednesday, when they attempted to stage a demonstration supporting the construction of Ram temple and a mosque at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

According to police, nearly 900 activists of some outfits, led by Hindu Munnani attempted to stage demonstration in support of constructing Ram temple,
Amid raising of slogans, police removed them from the spot and arrested.

Meanwhile, about 300 workers of Manitaneya Jannayaka Katchi were arrested, when they attempted to barge into railway station to stage rail roko, demanding reconstruction of masjid, which was demolished in 1992. However, police prevented them and took into custody.

In the meantime, demonstrations were held near South Taluk office by Tamil Nadu Muslim Munetra Kazhakam and at Attupalm in Ukkadam by the workers of SDPI, seeking to construct Babri Masjid there, police said.
