Around 52 students of Class 11 from the Government Higher Secondary School, Kovaipudur visited the dog squad training centre today as part of the ‘A day with the Police’ program.

SSI A Soundarajan and his team demonstrated the skills of the trained police dogs, such as how a sniffer dog finds suspicious items like drugs and weapons.

The students also visited the control room, police station, learnt about traffic awareness and visited the Commissioner’s office. The purpose of this program was to make students aware of how different departments work and make them realise that the police are their friends and that they should not fear them unnecessarily.

Nandini, one of the students, said, “It was a good experience; we now understand how the police work in different departments. We also came to know about the child helpline number.”
