An awareness camp was conducted at Telungupalayam by the students of Energy and Ecology Engineering department of Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, Coimbatore for saving electricity by using eco-friendly bulbs.

According to a release from TNAU, the increasing population, and widespread use of electric appliances has gone up and this has propelled the need to generate more power and as a consequence, increased global warming and ecological degradation.

In order to reduce this, the students of EEE department of TNAU have embarked on various programmes for creating awareness among people about the need to conserve energy and to protect nature, as a part of the nationwide ECOFEST-2015 symposium event.

The students created awareness among the public of Telungupalayam by distributing energy saving bulbs in place of the normal bulbs. Seeds and pesticides which are not harmful to earth were also handed over. Cloth bags replaced plastic bags. All the students of the department and public spirited individuals took part in the programme.
