Kummanam takes charge as Mizoram Governor

Kochi: Former Kerala BJP president Kummanam Rajashekharan today became the Governor of Mizoram at Aizawl.

He is the 23rd Governor of the State. Vakkom Purushothaman of the Congress from Kerala was Governor from 2011 to 2014. Rajashekharan was administered oath of office by Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court Ajay Singh. Later, he took guard of honour given by state police.

Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma was the previous Governor. Kummanam, who is single, had worked as a journalist, a government official and finally took to politics.
