SHO arrested in Varapuzha custodial death case

Kozhikode: A Station House Officer GS Deepak has been arrested in connection with the custodial death of Sreejit in Varapuzha in Kochi.
There were serious allegations against Deepak made by the victim’s relatives and neighbours, the main being his detaining of Sreejit without any reason.
He was questioned for eight hours in Aluva police club before the arrest was recorded. The Special Investigation Team had found that Deepak, who was on leave, was present in the police station on the day of Sreejit’s arrest.

This is contradictory to his claims that he had reached the station on the next morning, reports said. Three cops have already been arrested in connection with the case.
Sreejit was arrested in connection with the suicide of one Vasudevan in Varapuzha. Some people had intruded into his house and attacked him, following some issues. In the police complaint made by Vasudevan’s relatives a Sreejit was one of the assailants
