CHENNAI: The Working President and Leader of Opposition in State Assembly, M.K. Stalin, on Wednesday demanded a CBI probe into the death of S. Sharath Prabhu, a medical student hailing from Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu, in his flat in New Delhi.
Sharath Prabhu was pursuing his post-graduation at University College of Medical Sciences in Delhi.
Referring to the death of Saravanan, a student of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Stalin in a statement said a CBI probe should be ordered immediately “to prevent the deaths of students from Tamil Nadu”. On Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s statement that students going to other States for studies should register their names with the Government, Stalin said the Chief Minister was washing his hands off on the matter.
Former Union Health Minister and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss also demanded a probe into the Sharath Prabhu’s death.
“AIIMS tried to hush up the murder of Saravanan in 2016 saying that he had committed suicide but subsequently it was proved that he was murdered,” Anbumani said.
