Youth arrested for sexual assault

A 21-year old youth was arrested today for sexually assaulting a girl on the promise of marrying her, near Karamadai in the rural limits.
Sahayaveeran, running a sweetmeat shop had befriended the girl, a graduate working in a medical store and promised to marry her, police said.
On a false marriage promise, he sexually exploited her, after which he stopped meeting the girl, police said.
Realising that she was cheated, the girl lodged a complaint with the All Woman Police Station. Based on this, Sahayaveeran was arrested today. Further investigations were on.
