Kottayam: A poisonous dead snake in the milk dessert ‘paalpaayasam’ sent shock waves through the faithfuls waiting to devour the feast offered everyday at the famous Sree Krishna Temple at Guruvayur near Thrissur.

While one version said the snakelet was found before it was served to the people, the other version said it was noticed after it was served to 950 devotees in the Annalakshmi Hall on the temple premises. After this all the paayasams made in three huge vessels was thrown away.

When contacted, Guruvayoor Dewaswom Chairman Peethambara Kurup told The Covai Post that he was not aware of the matter. He said he would look into the report and conduct a probe to find the veracity of the report.

Meanwhile, the temple administration is reportedly in total chaos. The temple pond was once found with floating human excreta and when the matter was taken up with the temple authorities with photographs, they said it was done purposely to bring bad name to the administrators.

There have been regular incidents of the devaswom board volunteers behaving harshly with devotees, including women and elderly people.

At a time when bigger temples like Tirupati handled huge crowds with ease, Guruvayoor temple authorities made devotees wait for long hours to have a glimpse of the deity.
