Wildlife NGO Western Ghats Wildlife Conservation Trust has come forward to fund accidental medical insurance for anti-poaching watchers. The NGO will be funding the insurance scheme for 141 watchers under Coimbatore Forest Division.

The group personal accident insurance policy offers Rs 1 lakh cover for each person and also covers accidental medical hospitalisation. Watchers in the seven forest ranges – Coimbatore, Madukarai, Boluvampatti, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai, Mettupalayam, and Sirumugai – are covered under the scheme.

The policies were handed over to Coimbatore Forest Division officials by Trust President N Parthiban at Forest College here as part of World Elelphant Day celebrations.

Coimbatore Circle Conservator of Forests Ramasubramanian and Coimbatore Divisional Forest Officer N Satheesh were present at the function.

Forest officials declared the Trust as one of the best working environment NGOs in the city.
