Incidents of dengue slowly on the decline in Coimbatore

With preventive measures put in place to check the spread of the vector borne disease, incidents of dengue have slowly come down in the last one week in the district.

The district, which witnessed 21 dengue deaths in the last two months, has not reported any casualties in the last one week, Government hospital sources said.

Stating that about 50 patients are undergoing treatment for dengue in the hospital, they said that incidence of other types of fever
have also come down during the period, as only 155 are being treated in the hospital now, as against 200 earlier.

Pollachi in the district was the worst affected the area.

Meanwhile, a 65-year old woman was admitted to the hospital with the symptoms of swine flu.

Maria Joseph was being treated for ‘mysterious fever’ in a private hospital in the city and was shifted to the Government hospital, where she was tested swine flu positive, they said.
