Kochi: In an apparent embarrassment to the CPM-led LDF government, former Chief Minister and veteran communist leader V S Achuthanandan has suggested the Chief Minister to order a probe into allegations against Transport Minister Thomas Chandy and LDF legislator Anwar.

Achuthanandan, who is also the State Reforms Commission Chairman, said that even as the Chief Minister has clarified in the assembly the facts, the constant attack by media against the government accusing it of protecting the two leaders projects the government in bad light.

A probe into the matter will bring out truth before public domain. The present situation is helping the Congress led Opposition to target the government, he said.

The former Chief Minister raising the matter assumes significance as he and Pinarayi are at loggerheads. Chandy is facing charges of encroaching backwaters and converting it into a road leading to his resort in Alappuzha.

Anwar is accused of operating a water Theme Park near Kozhikode violating norms.
