Engineer at Isha Yoga Foundation trampled by elephant, dies

A 25-year old youth who works with Isha Foundation was killed by an elephant near Mullangadu check post on the city outskirts last night, police said today.

Isha Yoga Foundation situated at the foothills of Vellingiri hills has been mired in controversy over encroachment of elephant corridor.

Manishkumar, hailing from a town near Jaipur in Rajasthan, was walking along the road, engrossed on his cell phone and failed to notice the elephant in front of him, police said.

The pachyderm attacked Manish, a systems engineer at Isha, as he came near it and trampled him, resulting in his death, on the spot, they said.

On information, police and forest officials rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent to Government Hospital postmortem.

His body will be handed over to his parents who are on their way from Rajasthan, police added
