The Government run Arasu Cable TV Operators today alleged that despite having more than six lakh connections in the city, only 1.5 lakh connections were officially shown on record.

In a memorandum to the District Collector, T N Hariharan, a group of cable tv operators alleged a nexus between some government officials and a few private cable tv operators allowing such irregularities.

Though the Government has started distributing free digital set top boxes to its customers, some private operators also started offering digital services in collusion with leading private players, they alleged.

Stating that these private players deprived the public the benefit of watching their preferred channels, the operators requested the Collector to take stringent legal action against the violators.
