Child racket busted, four arrested

A child racket was busted today and four members of a gang when with they were about to buy a three-month old boy near Gudalur, some 80 km from here.
The gang had a struck a deal with a woman, Bhuvaneshwari,who already has two children, to buy the baby for Rs 5lakh last night, in her house in Kilapulli.
Smelling something fishy, neighbours alerted the police and also the Child Helpline.Police arrived this morning just before the money was being handed over and arrested four persons–Ravichandran, Kathiresan, village health department nurse Elizabeth and a woman from Kerala Reshma Bhanu, police said.
