Kottayam: A 36-year-old worker from Tamil Nadu encountered tough times as he did not get treatment for injuries suffered during a brawl at Kuttipuram near Thrissur.

Rajendran of Ariyallur in Tiruchirapalli shuttled between Kozhikode and Thrissur Medical Colleges and was finally taken to his native place.

The incident occurred the other day night in his rented house when he had a fight with his relative Koteeswara, 38, who hacked him with a knife on his hand and leg.

People gathered on hearing his wails and took him to Kuttipuram taluk hospital from where he was referred to Thrissur Medical College. He was treated at the emergency section and half an hour later was referred to Kozhikkode Medical College.

But doctors there referred him to Kottayam Medical College. But the patient’s kin said that the treatment in Tamil Nadu was free and took the decision to leave for Coimbatore. It was the Medical College which arranged the ambulance.
