Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau have arrested a female junior officer of the Housing Board in Coimbatore for receiving a bribe of Rs.2000 to issue land documents.

Hameed, a resident of Tirupur district, had applied to the Coimbatore Housing Board office to obtain documents for a piece of land located near the Kankeyam Road at Mudalipalayam in Tirupur district. It is alleged that Tamilselvi, a junior-level employee of the Housing Board had demanded a bribe of Rs.2000 to issue the land document.

Mohammed Hameed filed a complaint with the Anti Corruption Bureau. Based on their advice, Hameed gave her chemical-marked currency notes to Tamilselvi at the Housing Board office. The officers arrived at the spot, seized the bribe currencies, and placed her under arrest.

The officers kept her at the Housing Board office and conducted preliminary investigations. She was then taken to the district magistrate and sent to the Coimbatore Central Jail.
