A revenue inspector attached the municipal office at Gudalur was arrested on Wednesday, while allegedly accepting bribe to show an official favour.

The RI, Khader Basha, reportedly demanded Rs. 3,000 from one Abdul Hameed to issue an NOC for electricity connection for his chat shop in the town, some 80 km from Ooty in Nilgiris district.

As the application was pending for the last one year, Hameed lodged a complaint with Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC), who laid a trap.

Accordingly, Hameed was asked to give Rs.2,500 marked notes and the DVAC sleuths caught Basha red handed while accepting the bribe.
