BJP misinterpreting ‘Mersal’ remarks, says VCK chief

Joining issue with BJP Tamil Nadu president Tamilisai Soundarajan, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi president Thol Thirumavalavan today said she was blowing out of proportion his remarks on BJP was trying to rope in Vijay by taking up the `Mersal’ film issue.

“I asked whether BJP was trying to cash in on the GST issue in ‘Mersal’ and rope in Vijay, but Tamilisai unnecessarily took it other way and made derogatory remarks about me,” Thirumavalavan told mediapersons here.

He said his party workers had demonstrated against Tamilisai’s remarks in a democratic way, yet they were beaten up BJP activisits during a demonstration in Karur, and the police were mere spectators.

He said it created confusion whether the State police was under the AIADMK or BJP.

Thirumavalavan, on his way to Salem to attend party general council meeting, said his party would fight the usury practice, GST and communal politics.He also urged Tamil Nadu government to withdraw the hike in sugar price.

Thirumavalavan also had a word of praise for Kamal Haasan directly engaging in social work.
