A visually challenged youth on Monday alleged that a police official in Ukkadam was demanding money for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to set up a petty shop.

In his petition to District Collector T.N. Hariharan, Bhadran said that the Corporation had sanctioned Rs. 30,000 from its special fund for the disabled for setting up a petty shop in the Ukkadam bus stand.

“Since a NOC from the police department was a must, I approached the Ukkadam police station and after prolonging the issue the inspector demanded money for issuing the same,” Bhadran said in his petition.

In view of the disability, Bhadran requested the Collector’s intervention in the matter.
