The Tamil Nadu Government owes an explanation to the people for the death of soft engineer Raghupathy whose motorcycle hit a barricade four days ago. This was erected as part of the MGR Centenary celebrations in the city four days ago.

DMK working president MK Stalin met Raghupathy’s parents at their house in Chinniyapalam here.

“The government has the responsibility and owes an explanation with regard to the accident,” he told mediapersons.
Raghupathy had tried to avoid a lorry coming from the opposite side and hit the barricade, resulting in his fall and death, a very painful one, Stalin said.

Welcoming the Madras High Court judgment for removal of all the banners in the city today, Stalin said even if there was permission, people should avoid putting up cutouts and banners, which created hardship to motorists and pedestrians.

The ruling party has put out more than 1,000 cutouts and banners across the city, allegedly without valid permission, he said adding that AIADMK had a giant balloon having the photographs of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, when there was ban on display of photographs of living persons.

Stalin said he had instructed his party workers immediately after he took over as working president that cutouts or banners should not be put up during his visits to their area.
