Post graduate students from Coimbatore Medical College on Monday urged the District Collector to cancel the appointment of 465 doctors, who were selected through walk-in interviews.

In a petition to T.N. Hariharan, the students said the Medical Recruitment Board, that conducted the interviews on November 17 and 18, did not follow the procedure.

“The interview to fill the post 465 positions in various Government medical colleges and taluk hospitals was not done as per procedure,” D. Jayaraja, convener of Tamil Nadu PG Medical Students Association said.

“Instead of giving priority to Government doctors and PG students who have completed two years of House Surgency, and appointing candidates based on seniority the Government has appointed non government doctors. They did not follow reservation policy too,” the students alleged.

They appealed to the Collector to initiate steps to cancel the appointment lists and conduct the interviews again. “We will continue our protests in front of Directorate of Medical Education at Chennai, if our demands are not met,” the students said.
