There is an urgent need for the development of modern technologies to ensure food safety, security and nutrition, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) Vice-Chancellor Dr. K. Ramasamy said.

This is necessary considering the changing scenario in the field of agricultural marketing, Ramasamy said on Friday, while releasing a souvenir of the 10th national seminar on FoodXlore’17, organised by the students of B.Tech (Food Process Engineering) of Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute in the University.

The seminar, with the tagline ‘Bridging Agriculture with Industry – Emerging role of Engineers in Food Processing’, provided a platform for students across India to showcase their knowledge, technical expertise and advanced developments in the fields of food processing, food safety and quality.

The Director of Erode-based Ulavan Producer Foods, D. Venkateswaran, stressed the scope of food technology and its applications and the importance of e- marketing in agriculture and allied fields.
