A 60-year old man today stabbed his son-in law to death in the city, for picking up quarrel frequently with his daughter under the
influence of liquor.

According to police, Vellingiri (60) had given his daughter Kavitha (31) in marriage to Mayan (36), a daily wage earner and both were living in nearby houses in Perur.

Unable to bear the torture of her husband, Kavitha had left home for her parental house four days ago, they said.

Mayan, who had gone to answer nature’s call this morning happened to see Vellingiri and asked him to send Kavitha back. In a fit of anger, following wordy quarrel, Mayan took a knife he was hiding and attempted to stab his father in law.

However, Vellingiri managed to snatch the knife and stabbed Mayan around his neck. Though neighbours took Mayan to Government Hospital, he was declared brought dead, police said.

Vellingiri was arrested and further investigations on.
