The Indian Statistical Institute’s (ISI) Coimbatore unit will soon offer certificate courses in Lean Six Sigma and Enterprise Business Analytics. This was informed by D. Nandakumar, president of the Coimbatore chapter of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

The decision was made following the meeting of the Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Dr. V.K. Singh, with members of the delegation led by ICCI Vice-President, N Subramaniam on September 30. The meeting was held to discuss the proposal of merging the ISI units of Coimbatore with those in Chennai.

Coimbatore was not keen on merging the unit with Chennai because in its 60 years, ISI Coimbatore has already made a name for itself. The Minister has ruled out the merger.

The Chamber had also sought the Minister’s permission to offer certificate courses in “Lean Six Sigma for Wholesome Excellence,” in collaboration with Six Sigma and Advanced Controls Inc. USA (SAC).

The course on Enterprise Business Analytics will be of tremendous use to the Small and Medium enterprises (SMEs).
