Dejected over her poor marks in the half-yearly examinations, a 16-year-old girl committed suicide by hanging herself in her house at Anna Nagar, Ammankulam on Wednesday.
According to police, Mathumitha, 11th standard student of a private school, scored very less marks in mathematics in the recently held half-yearly examinations.
Her parents, Sitrarasu and Alagarammal, were away to work when Mathumitha took the extreme step. When Alagarammal returned from work, she found the front door bolted from inside.
When Mathumitha did not open the door even after repeated knocks, she opened the window and was shocked to see Mathumitha hanging from the ceiling. On information, Ramanathapuram police rushed to the spot recovered the body and sent it for post mortem A case has been registered under Section 174 of IPC.
