Coimbatore:  Tamil Manila Congress president GK Vasan has said he is not ready to trust any party on the Cauvery issue and also requested Karnataka Government to release water from the Cauvery to save crops that were withering in the wake of lack of irrigation.

Vasan also said, “Karnataka’s BJP and Congress are hand in glove regarding the Cauvery issue.” He also alleged that the Karnataka Government was disrespecting the apex court’s orders and condemned its action.

Vasan, who is in the city to meet party district office-bearers to discuss  strategies for the upcoming local body and MP elections, said there was no need to change the name of Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi to Vaigai or Pothigai. He also requested the Central Government to reduce road tax in the wake of high fuel prices.

Vasan also said the engineering college admission process should not be made online and counselling centres had to be setup in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai. He also wanted the State Government to take action to clear confusion over NEET.

About elections, he said, “Coalition plans would be revealed at the time of elections considering people’s opinion and we are not ready for any coalition with both State and Centre ruling and Opposition parties.” Vasan also said that the State Government and police department should take necessary action to stop criminals from other States entering here.

Various development works in the city were at a standstill, he alleged and daily wages for handlooms weavers had to be increased.
