COIMBATORE: The Start-up policy of Tamil Nadu will be in place in another two or three months, a top State Government official said on Friday.

“The Government is in the process of finalising the policy, which will make the support system for start-ups much easier,” Principal Secretary Dharmendra Pratap Yadav told reporters on the sidelines of the Smart India Hackathon 2018-Hardware edition, which concluded here.

“It will make the support system for start-ups much easier, will relate to specs like venture capital and consider hand holding right from the ideation stage to reaching the market,” Yadav said.

Stating that Tamil Nadu has been a fore-runner, encouraging innovation and the start-up ecosystem, he said the State plans to support 400 innovation hubs every year and strengthen the industrial environment. There are lots of incubation activities across institutions in the State, he said.

The state recently came up with the idea of giving grants under “Innovation Voucher Scheme” to the successful, budding entrepreneurs, he said

“We have committed Rs. 20 crore towards this in the first year. The Government Order (GO) has been issued on this recent announcement and the process is yet to start,” Yadav said.
