DMK anti-green corridor demo turns into protest against Stalin’s arrest

Coimbatore : Scores of DMK workers were arrested today for staging demonstrations here and nearby districts protesting against the arrest of party working president M K Stalin in Chennai.

According to police, about 500 workers, including women, led by former Minister Pongalur N Palanisay and N Karthik, MLA, were arrested after staging a demonstration in the city
The activists, who had gathered to protest against the eight-lane project in Salem, raised slogans against police for arresting Stalin, who was staging a demonstration in Chennai over the Governor’s issue, police said.

Over 375 party workers, led by former Minister Subbulakshmi Jagadeeshan, were arrested in nearby Salem.

As traffic on the busy roads started getting paralysed, police arrested the DMK workers, even as a few farmers left the place without joining the demo, police said.
