Tirupur: A 22-year-old woman, an alleged suicide victim hospitalised with burn injuries on June 19, died at the hospital here on Sunday.

P Suguna from Pallakattu Pudur in Rakkiyapalayam, had set herself on fire at her home, following a domestic dispute with her husband, police said.

Suguna had married Prabakaran three years ago and the couple did not have children. The police said that Prabakaran was an alcoholic, resulting in regular quarrel between them.

“On June 19, with an intention to warn her husband to give up alcoholism, Suguna poured kerosene on her body. However, she ended up setting herself on fire. She sustained more than 60 per cent burn injuries and was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment. She died on Sunday,” they added.
