200-km Kovai-Kochi cycle rally flagged off

Coimbatore : Out to create awareness among the youth and educate them about the importance of cycling, a Kovai (Coimbatore) to Kochi cycle rally was flagged off on Wednesday here.

Organised by Rotary International District 3201 and 105 Battalion of Rapid Action Force, the ‘Pedal for Clean India’ will cover 200 km and was flagged of by City Corporation Special Officer Dr K Vijayakarthikeyan.

The expedition also marks the observation of World Polio Pulse Day and coincides with the celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi,a statement said.

More than 150 Rotarians are participating in the rally, which will stay overnight at Ottapalam and move to Irinjalakuda via Thrissur for a brief halt and reach Nedumbassery International Airport in Kochi by 6 pm. Participants will be accorded a reception there.
