Alert loco pilot, assistant lauded for averting major train mishap

Coimbatore : Southern Railway General Manager RK Kulshrestha on Thursday appreciated the vigilant and timely action of a loco pilot and his assistant for averting probable rail mishaps.
Loco pilot M Arun Kumar and assistant loco pilot Aseem S.Hameed of a goods train in Erode had experienced a heavy jerk while the train was passing Kagankarai on Jolarpet-Salem section on November 5.
They stopped the train and scrutinised the tracks and checked the train formation and noticed a weld failure and informed their higher-ups. Subsequently, speed restriction was imposed in the section.
