Coimbatore : Seeking immediate capture and relocation of two wild elephants from Thadagam area, farmers have decided to stage protest in front of Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) here on December 17.

In a petition submitted to the District Collector on Monday, a group of farmers affiliated to Tamil Nadu Vyavasayigal Sangham said these wild tuskers were creating havoc in Anaikatti and Periya Thadagam villages on the outskirts and destroying crops and property.

Though forest department officials were aware of the threat, there was inordinate delay to scare away the elephants and send them back to the forest.

In case no action was taken, the threatened to lay siege of the CCF office and hold a demonstration next Monday, the weekly grievances day.
