Coimbatore : Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) activists on Tuesday released black balloons in the air in the city to protest against the Kerala Government and its Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the Sabarimala Ayyapan temple.

The workers, led by HMK president Arjun Sampath accused Vijayan of acting against the interests of Hindus and genuine devotees and decided to waive black flags, when he is expected to arrive at Chennai for unveiling the statue of former Chief Minister late M Karunanidhi on December 16.

HMK floated a movement called ‘Go Back Pinarayi Vijayan’ for this and cadres would wave black flags when he visited Tamil Nadu, Sampath said.

He also demanded withdrawal of Section 144 clamped at Nilakkal area on the way to Sabarimala and also not allow women in the age group of 10 to 50 years to worship at the shrine.
